12:37 am - oh what a crappy day!

well this day sucked to the tenth degree....it was going ok for a while until i got home. i had gone up to tampa with jared to visit our cousins over the weekend...it was a lot of fun. however, when i got home tonite i realized i had left ALL of my DVD's at their house. totally sucks. then, of course, to make matters worse, i also left my brand new shirt i bought from the mall up there. then the worst of the worst happened...the moment i had been dreading for the past month or so. shauna said her final goodbye to me on the phone...it will be the last time i talk to her until august 2nd when her ship gets to san francisco. so now i am totally depressed with no movies to comfort me. i know, i know, i'm pathetic. hopefully i'll have my dvd's and shirt back on saturday, as my aunt and uncle are sending them down with my uncle's sister who lives in west palm.
sorry for the whining...i sound like dashboard.

hello livejournal!!! it's hard to believe i haven't written anything in over a year. a lot has changed since i last updated the old LJ, so i'll keep it to just recent happenings. well i am out of school for the summer, just getting some things together for the upcoming year and planning more for my long term future. i am now a poli-sci major but unfortunately have no clear career choice. i just really want to get a degree and i enjoy politics, so i probably will have some sort of job in the political arena...so all of my friends out there need to vote for me when i run for public office in maybe 2010 or 2012. ;)
shauna is gone for almost the whole summer =(, and i can't believe how much i miss her. i have realized more now than ever before how much she means to me and how much i love her. i just went to see her up in massachusetts where she is studying for the first part of the summer. we went to boston and just had a really good time eating A LOT of seafood and italian - my two favorites. we also went to a few museums and hung out a little bit in woods hole at her school. i can't wait til she gets home!
the band is kinda on the DL rite now since robert left the band. i was real sad to see him leave cuz he's been a part of chosen x for 4 yrs and ive become pretty tight with the kid over the years. we still plan on recording an ep this summer (jared's gonna record all the guitar parts) and maybe playing a few local shows or somethin'. we need a replacement for rob, so email me if interested.
COOL NEWS: my favorite band, 311, is playing sept 2nd!!! im so there.
well that's it for now, whoever is reading this please pray for me to find direction!!! i've really just been doing a bit of soul searching and that's really what i'm asking God for. i know of some things that i really want to do, but i need more clear direction to do them. so throw up a prayer for me if you get a chance. i love you all...peace

"Finch - Say Hello to Sunshine" - different from the first album, a little more technical, indie sound...really good stuff
"Motion City Soundtrack - Commit This to Memory" - same sound as the first release, although i tend to favor the first album a little more, still a worthy buy

well it's been such an eventful past few weeks. i've been so busy...went to Orlando last weekend with danny, steph, and shauna, it was great to get away from everything for a day. we played boonadducious saturday, and it was totally awesome...had a great time and met a lot of cool people in the music biz. we are finally recording after almost a year of waiting, which is good news. i wanna say happy 20th birthday to my sister, who has been such a great friend to me over the years as well as being my sister. Happy B-Day sis!
BANDS I USED TO HATE BUT NOW LOVE:
1. Something Corporate - i judged this band by that stupid "Babies of the 80's" song but after checking out some other songs, i liked them alot. love the piano
2. Coheed and Cambria - at first i found the singer's unusually high voice annoying, but somehow it grew on me. i love the new album...truly amazing
3. Vendetta Red - i first saw this band play with Something Corporate back in February, and they sucked sooooo bad. they must have just had a rough nite, cuz i watched them play an awesome set with Dashboard, so i went and bought their album...totally rocks
well guess that's it for now, have to go to school soon...im out

i dunno why it's so freakin hot in my house. my parents i guess are tryin to save money, but it's freakin hotter than hell in here. anyways, on to a different subject...
i must say School of Rock is now probably my favorite movie. if you've ever been in a band or wanted to be in one, please do yourself a favor and go see it.
well it's been a long time since i posted, a lot to say, but i'll just give the bare minimum. things with the band are going really great...other than we got screwed with recording...oh well so the story goes. we're lookin at our options for recording and in the meantime we're writing some more songs...we played three shows in the past two weeks...it was really awesome to finally play again after two months off. we played in stuart on the 17th of sept and i have to say it must have been the best show ever...over 500 kids jumping around, crowd surfing, moshing, absolutely an amazing experience.
in other news, we will be playin at boonaducious this year, that should be pretty cool. the date is november 1st, so hopefully we can get a good crowd out to see us.
i am back in school now. i am going to FIU studying journalism (for now) but i dunno if i'm gonna stick with that major. they keep discouraging everybody in my class, telling us that we wont make hardly any money, there are not many available jobs, etc...great news huh?
still workin at publix about 25 hrs a week...yeah that's a boring subject. who cares. =)
well thats all for now.
oh wait one more thing...I LOVE SHAUNA GORE!!! =)

well this weekend i am trying to keep myself busy, but it's really hard since everyone is either working or went out of town. shauna and stephanie went to cocoa beach...(i wasnt invited cuz it's 'sposed to be "girl time") and almost everybody else here is working...sooooooo....i am bored. so far today i did get some things done that were needed. fixed the AC knob in my car, got my long awaited printer from Best Buy that still hadnt arrived in the mail yet, and worked out a little bit. i'm getting fat and i don't like it...time to get in shape. but tonite i have no plans. somebody call me!!! pretty please?

1:06 am - ssshhhh, it's not cool to like MxPx...

well tonite's show was pretty awesome. it sold out so it was a little uncomfortable, but nevertheless, it was a lot of fun. Midtown (my favorite of the evening) played an awesome set, Reggie and the Full Effect was interesting to say the least, and both Senses Fail and My Chemical Romance played good sets. i finally got to see shauna today. i hadnt seen her in almost two weeks cuz i had been in north carolina workin for my dad. it was great to finally see her and kiss her and hold her again, i definitely missed that. after the show, i was talkin to someone who admitted to me after seeing them live, they are now a closet MxPx fan...i laughed...it was funny cuz this kid is one who you would never expect to like MxPx...he even hushed me and said...ssssshhh...it's not cool to like MxPx...dont say it so loud! i got a kick out of that. well anyways...good nite, and keep on rockin

10:28 pm - no more vegetables....

went to a Bible study at Christ Church tonite...the study's on Injustice in the World, and tonight's specific topic was oppression. It's really really sad to see all the people in the world who are oppressed, and it got me thinking about how good I really have it here. I mean in the video they showed us they showed people in India working 14 hour days and making only like 20 cents an hour! it's really amazing how we can take for granted the freedoms we have here.
one thing i also learned is that i have to really give all i have to live the way God wants me to. I can't just go to church and sit like a vegetable...i need to get out and do something with it. i need to give "all of me".

hey i finally broke my writer's block!!! for the last few months, i've really had trouble writing songs...like it took an abnormal amount of effort for me to actually get words on paper, but just this past week i've written like 10 songs, and the words are just flowing effortlessly...couldnt have come at a better time either...

well tonite was an eventful night to say the least. me and my chosen x brothers brought the rock to Endfest...it was alot of fun, even though there werent very many people during our set...its all good. then something really strange happened after that. after our set, isaac and sue showed up...come to find out, our record label no longer exists! apparently it's been that way for awhile, yet no one even bothered to mention that minor detail to us. since january, us and our label had kinda been at a standstill. the label was apparently being re-organized, but there was never anything communicated to us that it was dissolving. i tell you, after finding this out, never so many emotions went through me then they did at that point. i was first angry, angry at not being told, angry at being promised so much and those promises being broken. then i felt relieved, relieved that we finally knew what was going on and that we had some closure, relieved that we could get on with our career. then i felt sad, sad that it seemed we were losing something that we had held dear and sad at losing something that had helped to create ourselves musically. and then i also felt happy and reassured. happy that it seemed like it was a renewal for us, like we had a brand new start and that something was out there for us, and that all that CP had taught us would help us in the long run...and last i felt thankful. i'm thankful for all the friendships i made and all the lessons i learned from CP. we still plan on recording our full-length album with Isaac producing, and i'm really stoked about the opportunities we have with it. we have the month of August to get this CD recorded, and i think it will be something we can all be very proud of.
everybody pleeeease come to our show July 19th at The Factory!!! we're playing with some really awesome bands - Noise Ratchet (who i am listening to right now), Copeland, The Rocket Summer, and Celebrity, show starts at 6:30, cover charge TBA.

1:09 am - Cornerstone

well last weekend i got to go to Cornerstone Festival Orlando. i had a lot of fun, and saw some really great bands and met a lot of cool people.
BEST PERFORMANCES:
-Blindside - amazing, they had the crowd eating out of their hands, and what an awesome stage show
-Anberlin - one of the best up and coming bands out there, can't wait to play with them on May 31st...they put on a really good show
-Dead Poetic - just an incredible band...their singer has an amazing voice, can transition between singing and screaming flawlessly, there is so much emotion in every song they play on stage
-Beloved - i had never heard this band before, but they blew me away...if you havent heard them yet, go here to listen to a couple songs by them
-Five Iron Frenzy - still such a fun show, i am so sad to see five iron end...the best ska band ever!
-The Insyderz - what happened to this band? they disappeared for like two years, and now they're back and better than ever...i really enjoyed their new songs, and their old stuff brought back some good memories
further and denison marrs also put on good shows as usual, but not as good as i know they are both capable of...im going to see further on may 24th at la fiesta de punk rock, and i'm obviously gonna see denison marrs when we play with them on the 31st...soooo hopefully the shows will be better...

wow, what a crazy week it's been so far...i've been going crazy trying to book shows for The Basement, i'm trying to register for school, i'm still working 9 to 4 everyday, trying to write songs, i'm going to cornerstone this weekend...AHHHH!!! well hopefully things will get back to normal next week...but who knows

12:31 am - Laziness Consumes You...

well i was such a lazy bum today. after i got off work at 4 today, i sat home the rest of the day. u think that i could at least be productive...but no. i did nothing. and of course it felt great to do nothing!!! watched my celtics destroy Indiana to advance to the next round of the playoffs, then talked to my girlfriend. tomorrow i have to drive all over God's creation to help her move back home from school, so i'm gonna have one long day ahead of me tomorrow.
by the way...if any of you bands are reading this for some stupid reason, i am now in charge of booking shows for a new club down here in Hollywood called The Basement...call me or email me if u want a show and i'll hook u up. gnite to all!
